OPC UA Client by Aprotech / Aprotech OPC UA Client

The OPC UA Client application operates on the Kaspersky IoT Secure Gateway 1000 software platform. The application connects to an OPC UA server located in the enterprise’s local network to collect data using the OPC UA protocol.

The data collected by the application is then converted by the software platform to the MQTT protocol and transmitted to the MQTT Publisher application for further delivery to cloud-based IoT platforms or enterprise information systems. The OPC UA Client application only functions in tandem with the MQTT Publisher application.

The application conforms to the OPC UA Foundation standard for the OPC UA protocol, version 1.04. The OPC UA Client application has the following limitations for OPC UA protocol support:

• Secure connections via the OPC UA protocol are not supported. Connections are established using the "None" security policy.
• Authentication on the OPC UA server is performed using a username and password. Anonymous connection is also possible by specifying the null parameter in the userCredentials parameter block.

• The following data types described in the OPC UA specification are supported:

  • Boolean
  • SByte
  • Byte
  • Int16
  • UInt16
  • Int32
  • UInt32
  • Int64
  • UInt64
  • Float
  • Double
  • DateTime
  • XmlElement
  • NodeId (only numeric and string)
  • ExpandedNodeId (only numeric and string)
  • StatusCode
  • QualifiedName
  • LocalizedText (partially)
  • Variant
• Data received via the OPC UA protocol of types Double and Float is rounded to six significant digits.
• To transmit data via OPC UA, the server must support MonitoredItem and Subscription service sets.
• Only one OPC UA client can be connected to one OPC UA server.
