New awards, eastward expansion and a technology alliance

The KasperskyOS team's 2023 experience

The main star of 2023 was Kaspersky Thin Client. We significantly expanded the international presence and recognition of KasperskyOS, and products based on it. Several new areas of activity and projects with partners were launched. The theoretical basis of Cyber Immunity also evolved. Read all about it in our New Year’s Digest!

Global recognition for Kaspersky Automotive Secure Gateway

A KasperskyOS-based solution for installation in automotive electronic control units won the World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements award for significant scientific and technical achievements in the field of information technology and innovative solutions. The jury selected the best project from 246 global developments. Kaspersky Secure Remote Workspace was one of 15 winners. This is a recognition of the Cyber Immunity concept, the uniqueness of KasperskyOS and a ticket to the front row among the world’s automotive giants.

Kaspersky Secure Remote Workspace wins award

The solution for creating a secure and functional thin client infrastructure won the “Protected Citizen” category of the All-Russian Regional Information Security Cup. In this category, participants competed for the title of the best secure solution in the areas of financial services, digital health, digital education and digital social security in Russian regions.

Participation in 49 conferences

The combined total audience exceeded 100,000. We held two of our own events — Kaspersky Cyber Immunity Conference and Kaspersky Cyber Immunity Developers Night. In 2024 we plan to go global: the Cyber Immunity Conference will be held abroad.

Major new version of Kaspersky Thin Client released

Our thin client has received an updated interface, lots of new admin features, the ability to work with two monitors, and has become more productive in general.

We registered our Cyber Immune thin client hardware platform with the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade

It is difficult to overestimate the significance of this event. Customers from a wide range of industries will now be able to implement solutions based on Kaspersky Thin Client and conduct risk-free procurements that meet all the requirements of import substitution legislation.

Groundwork laid for Kaspersky Thin Client sales in Southeast Asia

Chinese company Centerm has started pre-installing Kaspersky Thin Client on its hardware platform. And Aswant Solutions became the first distributor of the solution in Indonesia and Malaysia. Immediately after a joint business breakfast with Aswant Solutions in Kuala Lumpur, the first pilot projects were launched in the region. Several Malaysian government agencies and educational institutions are interested in our solution.

Sales of Kaspersky IoT Secure Gateway in Russia

Cyber Immune IoT gateways have become part of a 3D printing automation solution. They connect printers to the Redfab platform, collect telemetry data and transmit control commands to devices. We should also mention the launch of IoT gateways in India.

Application filed for FSTEC certification of Kaspersky IoT Secure Gateway

The new version of the Cyber Immune gateway has made a huge leap forward in terms of functionality, KasperskyOS itself has moved towards a general-purpose OS and has generally become more mature. As a result, we were able to start the certification process, which will allow us to implement IoT gateways where there are special requirements for the security of transmitted information.

We introduced the first Cyber Immune controller for the internet of things

Together with our partner Information Systems and Strategies (ISS), we have created an IoT controller for automation and dispatching systems in the housing and utilities sector and the manufacturing industry. We demonstrated the first Cyber Immune controller at the Digital Industry of Industrial Russia conference. We expect some exciting new projects in 2024, as we have started offering the KasperskyOS SDK for IoT controllers to all interested partners.

We launched a new project – Smart Factory

This is an interactive mock-up of a production facility where technological processes are carried out using real Cyber Immune devices – IoT gateways, controllers and professional mobile devices. The Smart Factory helps customers digitize their industries and scale Cyber Immune solutions across their entire manufacturing operations.

Successful testing of a smartphone running KasperskyOS in MegaFon’s laboratory

The operator confirmed the correct operation of the test device when performing basic functions (data transfer, making calls, sending SMS, switching between mobile communication technologies) in all modern networks used in Russia – 2G, 3G, 4G. This brought us one step closer to the implementation of a professional mobile device.

Two new national standards developed for domain-separated systems

During the development of KasperskyOS, it became clear that Russian documentation and even security textbooks lacked terms, definitions and concepts that could be referred to when describing design architecture solutions. Our experts rectified this situation and helped define the basic concepts and architectural principles of structurally secure systems. As of April 2023, two national standards in this area have come into force.

Creation of technology alliance to implement Cyber Immune systems in a smart city

In late 2023, Kaspersky, BL GROUP and Inspark signed an agreement to create a hardware-software complex that will combine the lighting of highways, streets, courtyards and parks into a single intelligent system with Cyber Immune protection against all modern information threats. As part of the alliance, a pilot solution is currently being prepared to create intelligent traffic systems on a highway in the Moscow region.

We held two hackathons on Cyber Immune development

The prize fund of both contests amounted to 1,500,000 rubles. Almost 3,000 people registered for them, forming more than 300 teams. Such hackathons help overcome two key challenges of secure development: the fact that developers often try to avoid the topic of information security, and the fact that traditional approaches to cybersecurity do not always work in the modern context. Stay tuned to the Telegram channel KasperskyOS. Development!

A new way of talking about Cyber Immunity and KasperskyOS

We have created a new section on our website – the Cyber Immunity blog. Here our experts discuss the theory of Cyber Immunity and tips on how to achieve it in practice. The articles in this section will also be of interest to those who develop secure solutions based on KasperskyOS. Don’t forget to sign up for updates!

We would like to thank everyone who worked with us throughout 2023 to build a better Cyber Immune future.

And we wish you a happy and prosperous 2024!
