Eugene Kaspersky discussed the concept of Cyber Immunity in Singapore

Kaspersky together with Division Zero (Div0) held a public lecture

In his speech Eugene Kaspersky highlighted the pressing need for Cyber Immunity – Kaspersky’s approach to developing secure-by-design IT systems, as the world enters the Cyber Age.

Eugene Kaspersky noted that from year to year, the cyberthreat landscape continues to evolve in both complexity and sophistication. Cybercriminals harm businesses with headline-grabbing attacks targeting IT and telecoms, healthcare, financial services, industrial plants and critical infrastructure, and so on. No sector is 100% safe.

While 90% of Singapore’s economy is made up of SMEs, Kaspersky’s data revealed that within the first half of 2023, malware or unwanted software disguised as business applications with approximately 50 unique files were distributed and 453 unique attacks were detected targeting this sector. Whereas in the same period a year ago, only 24 unique files were distributed, and 112 unique attacks were detected. This is largely aligned with the Cyber Security Agency (CSA) of Singapore’s Cyber Landscape 2022 report released in June, where the CSA noted that almost 40 per cent of cyberattacks here target SMEs.

This highlights the immediate risk that Singapore eitities are exposed to in this Cyber Age.

Cyber Immunity is an approach we trademarked in both the United States and the European Union. It represents a secure-by-design way to create systems that are virtually impossible to compromise and that minimize the number of potential vulnerabilities. The essential element of this concept is our KasperskyOS, a platform for building Cyber Immune products, such as Kaspersky Thin Client, our first and next-generation IoT gateways, and all the upcoming KasperskyOS-based products developed to create a more secure digital world. At Kaspersky, our mission is to build a safer world, and we are very excited about the possibilities to achieve this with Div0. We strongly believe that collaborations and mutual cooperations between non-profits and cybersecurity firms like us can boost the world’s cyber safety.
